What does DVD-R mean or stand for ?
DVD-R are DVDs that can be recorded upon. They are blank discs on which data, video, audio, documents and any thing else that can fit onto a 4.8 GB disc space. This is the reason it was called as “versatile” disk.
DVD -R are different from the DVD-RW because DVD-R can be recorded only once, whereas DVD RWs can be re-recorded upon numerous times.
The process to record data is the same for both.- A CD/DVD burning program like “Nero burning rom” is needed to transfer data from a hard disk to this DVD-R.
