What does DBP mean or stand for ?
DBP is different from Systolic blood pressure. For a normal BP reading of 120/80,the lower figure of 80 is called the DBP and is the resting heart rate which should be below 80.If it increases above this then there is a chance you may have high blood pressure and would need CCB – calcium channel blocker to reduce it.
When the heart chambers fill with blood and is ready to pump this blood before contracting, this is the time this DBP is taken. After pumping, the arteries get filled with blood and there is more pressure on the walls of the arteries, that is the reason why the Systolic pressure is always higher than the DBP.
